Less than 3 weeks before the 4th World Judo Championship Masters of the IJF (International Judo Federation) kicks off at the Doral Resort and Spa, on November 8th 2012, local Master athletes intensify their preparation and the expectation grows, hoping to get and keep in South Florida the title of champions in several categories.

As the date approaches, workouts get stronger, training is more intense and the names included on the list of participants make the 4th IJF Grand Masters World Judo Championship 2012, to be held in Doral

The City of Doral has again the chance of hosting an international Judo event. This time it is the IJF Grand Masters Judo Championship, and will take place between November 6th and November 11th 2012 at the Doral Resort and Spa. In this event, athletes between 35 and 75 years old gather to compete, showing that preserving great physical condition and constant training are the key to successfully stay in the highly competitive world of sports for a lifetime.

The eleven candidates for the City of Doral are somehow emblematic central characters with new ideals, fresh models of attitude and personal growth, examples of dedication and effort, of persistent and excessive altruism.

The 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games has been the most successful Olympic Season ever for USA Judo. A harvest consisting of the First Olympic Gold medal in Judo by Kayla Harrison, one Silver by Myles Porter, 2 Bronzes by Marti Malloy and Dartanyon Crockett and a fifth place by Travis Stevens, between Olympic and Paralympic athletes, the results have been the consequence of a well thought out plan where USA Judo administration, coaches and athletes worked extremely hard together for 6 years and proved to be very fruitful.

With a 4 to 1 vote decision, the City of Doral Council voted to set the millage rate for Fiscal Year 2012-2013 at 2.2430 mills, hence lowering the millage rate set for FY 2011-2012.

There is no doubt that these Olympic Games have been the most successful event in USA Judo history. Composed by an extremely talented, focused and hard working group of athletes, the USA Judo Team for London 2012 collected remarkable results that will forever be instilled in the memory of all their enthusiastic Judo fans that have followed their performances closely.

Two generations of Sports Administrators, Mr. Jose Humberto Rodriguez, CEO of USA Judo and his son Stephen V. Rodriguez, Vice President of Florida Sports Foundation, explained the activities that make possible the realization of great sporting events and with it the possibility of realizing the dream of athletes.
