Miami-Dade Elections Department puts voting equipment to the test for the November 6, 2012 General Election.

The Miami-Dade County Elections Department will conduct a comprehensive examination of its voting equipment in preparation for the upcoming November 6, 2012 General Election. As is customary prior to every election, the Elections Department will extensively test its equipment by replicating Election Day conditions.

“This is just one of many measures that are taken during the preparation of an election to ensure that our voting equipment is ready for use,” said Supervisor of Elections Penelope Townsley.

Members of the media are invited to view the “Logic and Accuracy Test” where each step of the voting and tabulation process will be tested. Ballots will be cast according to a predetermined outcome, and then tabulated and reconciled to ensure the votes were accurately captured. The test includes everything from opening the equipment to transmitting and tabulating results.
