Police Official Orlando Sanchez, well known in all Doral private and public schools for his responsible and high quality work in the care of young people, has just been promoted to the position of Sergeant at the Doral Police Department, in recognition of merit for his service to this community over the past 5 years.

With a degree in Elementary Education and 16 years in law enforcement, newly appointed Sergeant Sanchez has very high standards when it comes to fully achieving his mission, which has been to participate in and contribute to all programs that promote the protection, prevention, and care and support of children and teenagers in our schools. With this new position, he will continue to work in the School Resource Unit of Doral Police Department leading programs such as DARE, Stop Bullying, and many others which will actively continue to run during this new school year. These programs will further be explained to the community using this section in future editions.

Sergeant Sanchez has been a model of consistency and coherence of action and thoughts. Demonstrating genuine care and concern for others, he has lived every word of the reason for his daily work: “I love to help people, to support them, respect them, and especially serve those who are studying so they can continue to grow and reach their goals”.

His words remind us what we so easily forget about those who represent authority as a profession: behind his uniform and his service, there is also a human being, a normal person like all of us. This is how we met who Sergeant Sanchez is in his personal life: married with two children aged 3 and 4, devoting his free time being with family and educating his children. He also shares his passion for baseball, as a volunteer coach where he has the opportunity to get involved with other youth while sharing good times with his own children.

When we asked if he would like his children to follow in his footsteps and serve the community as a career, he told us: “I want to support them in the decisions they make regardless of whether they wish to pursue this career or not. Being a Police Officer is not for everyone, but I try to set a good example and get involved in their lives. I owe my family for much of my success, my wife Julie and my children Christian and Chloe have always supported me and they definitely make me be a better person every day.”

On behalf of the entire community, Doral Family Journal is pleased to thank and congratulate Sergeant Sanchez for this promotion. We are glad we can continue to have him involved in our schools improving the lives of our children. We wish him even more success in the future.
